Snow begins to fall, and the narrator tells us that he's never seen anything like it before. He asks Iris why she's giving him the news of her sister's death, and she tells him that it's not true. She tells him to tell his family that she said hello to them, and that she'll be okay on her own. He tells her that once they hear that her sister is dead, people will be happy, and they won't need to stick around a woman who doesn't even have a baby anymore.
