About This Chapter
The narrator is back at work and is starving. He wants to ask for a friend but can't figure out what to do. He's asking for a confession, but he's also asking for someone to be his friend. He asks if she's ever been on her mind, and if she is, then he asks if that's a confession. He also asks if he just said what he said, and she says no. The narrator says that he'll have to tell you that his name has given him grief, and that he is acting like a "total child" . He tells the narrator to stop acting like such a child, and to stop being so negative about the situation. He says that the situation is going to become a problem, because both people are very different, and they're not the same person. They're both cold and hard, the narrator says. He goes on to say that he wants to go paragliding with him, but the guy is shocked because he wants her to reject his confession so many times. He wonders if the narrator is old enough to judge the difference between a good man and a bad man, and he wonders if he needs to stop chasing after the sun, like a sunflower, and stop telling people that they are different from each other. He then asks if the car is not starting, and the narrator tells him to take it to the shop to fix it.
