In this chapter, we learn that the little boy will die if he does not sign a contract with the monster. The monster tells the boy that he will not force him to sign the contract, and that he is not going to kill him if the contract does not go well. He says that he already died once, and he will do the same thing to the boy. The little boy asks why he changed his mind, and the monster explains that it was because he finally has something he can do to help him. He promises to give the boy what he wants, even if it is for someone else.
