The Underground Man meets up with Hasol again. He's surprised that he's able to find him. He asks about the progress of the contract, and Hasol tells him that it's in good hands. He also tells the Underground Man that his contractor's "first love" is a human being, and that he can't help him if he wants to help the man by helping him fulfill his contract. Hasol's been sick since he was young, and the man has given up on his desire to live, he says. He doesn't want to do anything, he just wants to do what he wants. He says that he is just showing kindness by helping the man fulfill the contract. He tells Hasol that he will not let it happen, because he is the one who "did something stupid." He asks if she's still upset that she turned out like that, and she says that she is, too. She says she is jealous that she hasn't been able to see him. She wonders if she should have told Sol, but she says she would have made him worry if he hated her to the point that it was problematic. She also says that sol is different when he possesses her body, and even if his smile bothers her, he won't notice.
