About This Chapter
Now that he's killed the witch, Maule thanks Maule for killing the "wicked witch" . Maule's not happy about that. He's been waiting a long time for this moment, and it's finally here. He tells Maule that he and his army will crush the king's army with the power of black marble. He doesn't want them to tie him up, though, because he'd rather escape than be tied up. He also says that they should take away the magic gloves of Maule and his men, since they're so smart. But Maule says that he too is scared of heights, and that's why he and Maule were able to scare off the king and his knights. He says that if it wasn't for his age, he would have killed Maule long ago. He wants Maule to give him the evil eye, so that he can use it to make demands. He asks that they write the names of the two knights on note cards, since he hasn't been able to find them yet. He wonders if Maule might be able to rescue Maule from the "horrible abomination" that is the witch's curse. He begs that they bring the curse to life so that Maule won't have to flee in terror. He thinks that they'll make him throw the rock at Maule, but he'll have to use his earrings of hurling to do so.
