The monster explains that he's here to recruit the villagers to fight back against the evil that's been haunting them. He's a former prince, deposed by the monster's father, who's now planning to use his kingdom as a base for his evil. The monster tells the villagers that they have to walk three days to get to this point. He also tells them that they'll have to stay in the village for a week to get used to the strange, no-man's-land they've just arrived in. He explains that they need to know what they're looking for before they grab anything. He says that he wrote down everything they needed to know in the manual so they wouldn't have to go back to the village and read it again. He then explains that the village elders have told him that the monster has an ebon eye, which means he can see into the soul of the dead. He tells the story of how the monster was forced to eat a "sandwich" , which is a kind of bread-like thing, by his master, who was the evil king of the land. The ebon-eye is in his possession, he says, and he tells the monster that there's another monster, known as the "van-hunter," who can kill evil indiscriminately. The van-hunter is the same guy who ate the "whole sand witch" .
