In this chapter, Deryn is at her first convention, and she's having a bad day. She's worried about her boyfriend, who's flirting with her. She tries to get him to stop, but he won't listen to her. He's also worried that he's going to break up with her, because he loves her so much. Deryn tries to calm him down, telling him that she loves him and that she doesn't want him to do anything that would hurt her. But she can't stop talking about him, because she'd rather not talk to anyone. She tells him that he needs to go to the drawing booth and sell his art, because that's the only way he'll be able to support himself.
