This chapter's epigraph comes from a conversation between the Governess and her servant. The Governess says that she wants to kill herself, but that she's not done yet. She's still in love with Desdemona, but she doesn't understand why he'd want to kill her. She also says that the demon is only an obstacle to her family's success, and that she must find him.
