This chapter opens with a conversation between the father and son. The father tells the son that the emperor still needs the family to help him fight against the Huns. The son tells the father that the fourth prince, who was the previous emperor's brother, has been executed for his support of the current emperor. He says that he will ensure that the peace of the family will be maintained in the future. He adds that the worst thing that has happened to him is that he has given up everything for the sake of ambition. He feels that he deserves to be reborn as a human.
