The narrator tells us that he has been in love with Clara for a while now, and that he's worried that she'll find out about it. Clara will be able to tell him that she loves him, and he'll have to be the one to tell her. He's going to have to take care of Clara, he tells us. Clara is going to go on a date with a boy friend, and the narrator hopes that the date will go off without a fight.
