The narrator wakes up in the middle of the night to find that he has fallen asleep due to the effects of alcohol. He wakes up to find himself in a dream in which he can fly. He asks his brother if he can see him in the dream, but his brother can't hear him. The narrator realizes that he is in his dream, too, and that his brother must have been in it too. He feels like he has been "spying" through his brother's diary.
