About This Chapter
In this short scene, the young lovers discuss their love for one another. The young man is surprised that the older man would be so well-adjusted, and he asks his companion to tell him the story of their first meeting at a temple. When they first met, he was on his way home from the temple after visiting the grave of his wife, and when he suddenly slipped and fell, he thought to himself that it would be bad to die if he were reunited with his wife. He wonders if this was her way of giving him a "boost" after hearing him grumble in the grave. The older man tells him that he will be happy if he stays like this, or if he goes back to being a "old imean." He says that if he becomes a nurse, he will no longer need to worry about how he will look when he grows old. The younger man asks if this means that she will take care of him when he is old, and she says that it will be her job to do so
