In this short scene, the young narrator tries to convince the older man to have a chat with him. The old man, who is clearly still in his old age, is amused by the young man's lack of interest in the conversation. The young narrator, however, is not fooled. He tells the old man that he is too old to be in love with a young woman. He also tells the young men that they must learn to be more attentive to their elders.
