In this short scene, King Lear asks Kate what's going on. He doesn't know how to make her happy, but he does know that she's terrifying in hell. He tells her that he's the only one in hell who's happy, and he'll be able to blame himself if he makes the wrong decisions. He says he wants her to come back to him, even if it means she'll have to leave him. He asks her if she'd accept him as her husband.
