It's been a while since the two of them have been able to talk, and now they're back in the palace. The prince tells the emperor that he still remembers when he was bullied by the guards, and the emperor was first to come to his aid. He tells the prince that if the guards do that again, he'll have to fight them back. He also tells him that the prince's grandfather and father are high officials in the zhen yuan, so he doesn't need to worry about them. But the prince says that he's learned to defend himself, and that he can't use his fists anymore. He asks the emperor to stop drawing a line between them, and to stop being an outsider to him. He wants to know why the prince wants to be an outsider, and he says that it's no one's business. He's not interested in being separated from his family, he says, and so he wants someone to bring him some winter sweets.
