About This Chapter
The next morning, the young man is astonished to find that the master of his master's school is not a gentleman, but a cook. The young man wonders why the master is so far away from his master, and wonders if the master has practiced martial arts. The master tells him that the man always comes to the school for food, and that the old man is renowned for his skill in cutting meat. The man wonders if this man is making "handicrafts," or if he is using the threads of pigeon meat to make rice. He wonders whether the man is using "threads of the pigeon" to make the rice, and he wonders whether this man's spiritual power is stable. He decides to stay in the city for some time, and decides that he will go to two restaurants to try his hand at cooking. He wants to know where he can find the master, because he wants to learn as much as he can about the art of carving the sun blade. He tells the story of how the great swordsman, Hua tian, once ruled the world, but after his fame was too great, he was forced to spend his nights in the country. He says that if he wanted to pursue his goal, he would have to have great power, otherwise he would be a "puppet for the rich."
