About This Chapter
The next morning, the old man comes to get the young man. The old man tells him that the night before, the ice and fire elements combined to force out all of his impurities. The young man doesn't know exactly what happened, but he's pretty sure that it was the combination of the two elements that changed him. He's not sure if it's fire or ice, but the jade token in his body reminds him of the "holy ice tower" that his father mentioned earlier. The ice element, he says, is so powerful that he can cut through the "boundaries and shackles" of the world. He says that he'll be able to do this one day, but it'll take him a month to do it. He tells the old master that he won't be cooking for him anymore, and that he will start cooking his own meal. The man is all, "oh, yeah, I've already taught you all the details." The young master is all "oh no, I don't even like this dish." He'll have to learn to cook his own food, and he says that's the only way he can do that.
