The next morning, Dr. Manette and Madame Pernelle arrive at the train station. They've been waiting for the two of them to catch a ride back to their hotel. They don't know where they're supposed to be, but they know they'll be back soon. The doctor tells the women that they should be satisfied with what they've got, because they have their own strengths. The women are shocked, but the doctor assures them that he's not worried about it. He's just worried about what's going to happen to them when they get back.
