About This Chapter
The chapter opens with a description of the scene on the mountain. It's the morning of the first day of the blooming season, and the sun is still shining. Someone has woken up and is on the road. He's sorry to bother him, but he's sure the sun will come back soon. He wants to ask two of the men to tidy up after him. He also wants to know how the doctor is doing. The doctor is really good at imagining the enemy, and she's done a good job at it. The door to the house is closed better than the doctor's, but the door creaks and the window is closed reflexively. The grandson asks how his grandfather is. He doesn't care what he does, and he'd like to know if the men care about him at all. The road is full with almond trees, which bloom in the south in February. He asks the grandson to show him something. He shows the grandson a tree that he used to grow up on. The tree is still there, but it's not as good as it was when he was a kid. He tells the grandson that the tree is his family heirloom, and that he'll give it to the grandson as a gift. He says that the grandson is a chivalrous person, so take care of it.
