About This Chapter
In this chapter, we are introduced to a new character, named "Duoduo" . He is a friend of the protagonist's father, Mr. Manjun, who is a successful businessman. The two men have known each other for many years, and Manjun has always been fond of him. However, Manjun is shocked to learn that the protagonist has just bought a new electric bike, which is a waste of money. He tells Manjun not to fall for anyone who is "out of your league" because "the higher you climb, the greater your fall." He tells the protagonist to cough cough and tell him honestly that something happened between him and Mr. Ming-liang. He says that he is at work all the time, and that he cannot bear to see Ming-ling-liang, who treats him like a "narcissistic" and "bully." Manjun tells him that he does not want to hear of the past relationship between the two men, because Ming-ing-liang must have seen the past and fired the protagonist. He adds that he will not force his friend to tell him about the past, since "we are good friends." The protagonist says that two years ago, he was a "proud and happy woman," but now he is "satisfied with my life."
