This chapter opens with a conversation between Ruan Manjun and his servant. The servant tells Ruan that he forgot his shoes in his car. He apologizes for his behavior, but Ruan tells him to take him back to his job as a delivery man. Ruan says that he has lost his job, but that he will not be like the man in the photo. He says that even if he wants to live quietly, he can't do it if he is a delivery person. He asks Ruan if he was fired, and Ruan replies that he wasn't. Another coworker asked him to deliver a parcel, but he couldn't find an electric bike, so he'll have to go on foot to deliver the parcel. He thanks Ruan for taking care of him, and he says that at least he isn't annoying anymore. He's not hungry, he says, but it's nice to be hungry on Ruan's birthday
