About This Chapter
The narrator tells the girl that he's going out for a walk. He tells her to come back and apologize for kicking him in the leg. She apologizes, but the narrator doesn't want to admit that she was the one who kicked him. He says he'll help her clean up the wound, but he won't tell her how to do it. The narrator says that when he was a kid, his mom would blow on the wound and then apply medicine. He's not talking to her, though, and he says that if she goes out like this, the men will stare at her. He asks her where she wants to go, and she says that she went to his house and now she's in his bathtub thinking about his birthday. Maybe it's because he hasn't had much fun in a while, or maybe he has his own reason for wearing the mask. He puts the girl's clothes on and puts her in his house after she takes a shower. She's wearing a beautiful dress, and the narrator thinks that the owner of the dress must be a delicate woman. He wonders if the owner can't remember her, and wonders if she'll come back. He wants to stay with her, but she tells him to call her .
