This chapter opens with a flashback to the beginning of the previous chapter. Senior Brother Lin is talking to his younger brother Shuyin about a medicinal pill that he's been using to help him heal his wounds. He compares the pill to a "blood boosting pill" , which is used to "blow up people, fighting . . and suddenly . I took out the pill and wondered if we could use it to confuse an enemy" . Shuyin doesn't know what to make of this idea, but he does know that Lin is a "black bellied" man. He asks Senior Brother to test the power of the pill on him, but Senior Brother refuses, saying that he hasn't tried it out yet. He tells Shuyin that he trusts him a lot, but Shuyin isn't happy about it. He says that the elder brother is doing more experiments with the medicinal pill, and that the younger brother is improving. Senior brother says that if he encounters an enemy, he'll throw one of the pills at him, and if he fails, he will throw a hundred. He's afraid that the pill won't work, because the ingredients are so precious that they'll only be able to produce 500 of them. He also says that Shuyin has been ordered to teach the taoist laws to the disciples at the daluo palace.
