About This Chapter
Arnulf has arrived in Rome, but he's not with him. He's a bit shy around rich people, so he asks to be excused from his visit. He also asks to see raedwald, who's in town to negotiate a deed of property with a friend. The two exchange pleasantries, and the two decide that they'll meet later that night to discuss the matter. The next day, arnulf leaves to go to bed, so the two men have a chance to talk. They're not going to force each other to do anything drastic, they say, since they've already shared a bed together. They decide to wait until the next day to tell each other what's happened, and then they can buy one of their own hand bones to keep them safe. They also decide to leave the bones in peace, so that they won't have to worry about them being stolen. They don't want to get caught up in the cross-running that's going on around them, so they're just going to leave them in peace.
