About This Chapter
Five years ago, Ivar the Black took me to the dwelling of the chief to heal his dying son. In exchange, he gave me the rights to sell the skins of the saracens. The chief's son was dying, and Ivar gave him the right to heal him. Now, the chief wants to know why Ivar didn't do anything to stop him, and why he wants to help them. He tells them that he needs some warriors to help him rescue his son. They tell him that all the men are free on the island, and that they know how to find some of them. Ivar's good news: he's able to repay his debt faster than expected. He's probably the hot one in the cage. The three of them go on their suicide mission. They ask why they turned their ship around when they found out, and they ask if they should have just opened the ship when they asked. They'll discuss that later. The sylphs won't let them escape at full moon, but they will let them know that they'll torture them badly if they don't get away. They say that they can't rely on the jewels for their masters to come and fetch them, so they should climb onto their backs and wait for a miracle. The only one who has managed to leave the ship in time is raedwald. He says that too many men have died for him to go back to the island now, so he has to wait for the "miracle" of sodom.
