This short scene opens with a soliloquy by the artist, who tells us that he's in love with a man who's "top class" . He's got a lot to say, but first he has to tell us what's going on with him. First, he tells us, he wants to take a bath. He wants to rub his body with the man's fingers, but he can't do it because the man keeps touching him. He also wants to know if the man is going to "kiss" him, which is a sexual term for "kiss lover" , or if he'll just "swamp" him with his work . Finally, he asks if he can display some autumn and winter samples of his work in a large area so that he can see the "dead line" before he runs away.
