In this chapter, the narrator tells us that he's fallen in love with a guy named "Jack" who's going to visit a girl named "Miss Doctor" at the doctor's office. Jack is so into Miss Doctor that he decides to take her on a date. He'll bring his swimsuit, some makeup, some toiletries, and a "multipur pose knife" . The narrator hopes that the girl will like the island so much that she'll stick around.
