In this chapter, the protagonist is in love with the idea of pursuing his dream of becoming a doctor. He decides to go to the morning doctor's office to meet her. When he finds out that the doctor is away from home, he decides to run off to get her lunch. When the doctor asks him why he is there, he tells her that he is bringing her lunch because he is her "away from home wife" . The doctor is shocked that the protagonist would act like such a woman, but the protagonist says that he does not think that people would get the wrong impression if he told them that he was her husband. The protagonist then tells the doctor that if they were to get married, they would not have to hide from the island because they would be loved by the people.
