This chapter opens with a flashback to ancient times, when the six gods fought each other. The six gods were defeated by the flying serpent, who wanted to save the Buddha. The flying serpent wanted to bewitch the Buddha so that it would bewitch him and strip him of consciousness. The Buddha explains that he is too sinful to be a good buddhist, and so he has dragged his friend, the taoist, into this disaster. He prays that the demon will be suppressed and that he will be able to find his own self.
