This chapter opens with a warning from Baggins that the monster has gone berserk and that the base will soon begin self destruction. Baggins tells the other soldiers to hurry and run away. He tells them not to feel guilty about running away because he was the one who was careless. The monster has already recovered, and he tells them to find a way to defeat the virus. He also tells them that he used to be a member of the special forces and that he is sorry that his sacrifice has been in vain. He says that they have to hurry to get away from the base because they cannot let the monster destroy them. They have to rejoin them and lead all the survivors out of the place. They don't have enough time to do this, because they have just encountered another stage of the monster in the core laboratory. The time for self-destruction has been updated. The base will activate it in 60 minutes. The tactical team will be in position soon.
