In this chapter, carl and Jason are still trapped in the turbo chamber. They encounter the monster mentioned in the previous chapter, but the current blockade of their attack cannot reach its heart, so they cannot kill it. The three of them make it to the warehouse, but laura is injured in her arm when she tries to decipher the code by a mutant zombie. The two men are shocked to learn that laura has been infected by the mutated zombie. They advise the others to stay away from the mutant zombie as well. Jason tells them that the others have encountered another type of zombie, but that this one is even more dangerous because it has developed a new mutation that makes it even more deadly. He says that the two men probably are not infected, because they are both skilled fighters.
