The commisioner asks if he killed Lin. He had a hunch that Lin was a spy, but he doesn't have any hard evidence to back up his claim. Lin's identity had a lot of things on it, so he suspected he was one of the spies. There are other spies, however, who are trying to kill him. Lin is relieved to know that he has someone to protect him. He asks the adjutant to take his sister to her room. The narrator tells us that the editor will edit the scene in post production, so there's no need to worry about Lin.
