About This Chapter
The novel opens with a conversation between a young woman named Unnie and her friend, Park Bo-gam. Unnie tells Park that she has come to visit her at her parents' home. Park is jealous of Unnie because she is a member of a wealthy family and because she has a sister that she is close with. Park tells Unnie that he is jealous because he has a good family, but that sometimes it is too much. He says that if he were not his friend, he would have beaten Unnie up for being a brat. He tells her that she does not have to worry because she will take over the parents' cafe and that she will not need to find a job since she will be running the cafe. He gives Unnie a gift from the car and tells her to go to her mother's house and tell her about the gift. He asks her why she is so nice to him, and she tells him that she pityes him because he is an orphan. He wonders if she is pitying him because she thinks he is a celebrity. She asks him if he is nice because he prepares her meals, takes care of her, and prepares a phone for her like this. She tells him to stop, and he says that he will get angry if they continue
