About This Chapter
The narrator tells us that this is the first time he's heard anyone mention the dead woman's name. He's also the first person to tell us that she's been mentioned in any of the so-called "eventology" books. The narrator says that he wishes he could have the wish he has tonight. Just then, he hears that one of the "black knights" has raped the girl in the castle motel. The captain of the black knights tells the captain that he'll check out the other knights to make sure they're safe. He also says that the older knights are stronger than the younger ones, and that they might have had an "aswang" in their hands. Captain guerrero thanks the captain for coming, and the captain tells him that the second black knight, Paquito, has been killed in a fight at the bar, and two of his other friends have also died. He says that all of the pain is over, and now he can go home and rest. He tells his wife that he buried them in the ship they were on, so that no one would ever harm her again. She's a "fallen star" , he says, and he thinks that maybe, just maybe, this is a place that's far away from the pain and suffering of the past.
