About This Chapter
The monk is amazed at how much he has learned about the kami and how he has been able to help them. He tells the monk that he will soon be able to destroy all the blood he lusts after the yamibisus. The monk tells him that each time it burns out, it will be even more so. He says that he used to live in the forest, where the demons destroyed the trees, ruined the water, and ruined the lives of the people. But now, he says, he is able to fight the monsters with all his might. This is a sign that they have reached Gohei, the barrier between the forest and the mainland. Aki is also there with the monk, helping him protect a small village. He asks the monk if he understands what he is saying, and the monk says he does not understand what he means. He then asks if the baby is about to be born, and rumiko says that it is. She says that they are born from the elements in nature, and that the baby must be a ki. She then asks him to stay close to her, and he agrees. He also tells her that he has a lot of information to share with her, but that he is a dumb peasant and that he would like to help her. He promises that she will recover, and she will see that she is a great father
