In the Captain's cabin of the ship Cydonia, a group of young men are spying on the Captain and his family. The Captain asks one of them to place a stethoscope on the pipe so that he can hear what's going on on the ship. The children tell the Captain that they're spying on him, and the Captain says that he already knows, but he wants to hear what they have to say. He wants to know about the kaufman who has been locked up in a cell, and he's afraid he can't get him out of there because he slipped a bribe to a soldier who was supposed to be in charge of the cell. He asks the children to tell him what they've been doing, and they all say that they have been spying on Cydonia. They also say that Cydonia is full of "scumbags," and that the Captain has his "brats." The Captain tells the children that he has come to see the "kaufmann" locked in the cell, but that he doesn't have the money to do anything about it. He's worried that the soldier slipped the bribe to the other soldier, and now the Captain is worried that he'll be locked up too. He tells them to go back home and take a "shit" , and then he asks them if they know how to "mind their manners" . They all agree that they don't, and that there's nothing to talk about. They're all in the middle of talking about the piano, which is a nice piece of art, when the Captain interrupts them
