The eunuch scolds the empress for being too impatient. He tells her that the emperor is hopeless, and that if he had helped his son ascend the throne, he would not have had to call for trouble. He says that had he chosen the smart son, he wouldn't have been calling for trouble, because the emperor would have been weak and obedient. If he had chosen the brave one, he says, he might have been able to overthrow the emperor. He compares himself to a general, and says that he would have fought on the side of the emperor if he hadn't joined the imperial family. But now, he can only act in the palace, and he can't do anything outside of the palace. He thinks that she's clever, and she may seem obedient to him, but she is actually playing both sides. But today is his birthday, and let's just forget all of this. He asks why he is there, and the officer tells him that he is promised to the Empress' daughter. The officer tells her to stay away from him, and scolds her for being so arrogant. She tells him to put a collar on her fiance, but he says he doesn't care. He wants to hear what the Empress has to say about the situation, and wants to know how changning can adapt to it. He didn't think that the Empress would defend him. He feels heavy, and his body feels heavy.
