In this chapter, we are introduced to a new character, the princess, who is determined to fight for her life. She tells the reader that she was once a cherished princess, and that today is the day she will die. She says that she wants to live a bit longer, but that killing her will not benefit her in any way, as killing will just be a "waste of poison." She orders the servant not to touch her, and orders him not to take off her clothes. When the servant approaches her, she growls at him, saying that she is a wimp and that he should not touch her. She orders him to bring her warm chicken soup, which he does, and then she goes to bed.
