About This Chapter
In this chapter, the narrator tries to convince the reader that he's not so bad after all. After all, he says, if you're rejected, you can listen to what you've got to hear. He tells the audience that he wants to show them his actions. He says that when he first fell in love with her, he wanted to sing a song for her. She was so attentive to his singing that she couldn't stop thinking of him. The narrator says that the old me, who used to love song, was a fool. He also says that he didn't want to sleep with her so quickly. But, on that particular day, he really wanted to marry her. After seven years of being together, they have nothing to talk about anymore. They've been apart for seven years, and they're worlds apart. They can't talk about their families, their careers, or their social circle. They don't even know each other's names. They have nothing in common. They both know that it's miserable to change for someone else, but they both know how happy they can be if they just be themselves and do what they want.
