The narrator tells us that he and Ching-tang broke up a while back, and that he's not happy about it. He's going to have a little fight with him, and he'll make sure to splash water on his face every time he sees him. The little orphan, who's been playing with the little master, tells the narrator that he loves him, too, and asks him to take him for a walk in the garden. The narrator says that's a great idea, because two people are alone, and they need to be alone to find love. The orphan says that the master has brought him a lot of food, so he'd like to give him some, but he won't be able to touch it.
