This chapter opens with a flashback to the events of the previous chapter. In this chapter, we are introduced to a young man named Huw, who has just returned from a trip to China. Huw is a friend of Luofeng's, and he tells his brother that he has seen a man chasing a turnip friend and grabbing the leaves off the man's head after the man red-lined. The young man tells Huw that if the man is still alive, he will tell the truth. He suggests that they go down to the red line and shout the name of the man they saw chasing the turnip friend. If the man still is alive, the young man says, the man will respond in a liar's voice. He says that he will call him later, but that they still need to tell him where they have seen the man. He adds that they need to do something to get the girl back to reality.
