About This Chapter
The director pokes around the corpse and notices a bruise on her head. He tells the apprentices to clean the body and show them how to do the dissection. He also tells the old woman that she can go now. The old woman wonders why the young woman is acting so tough. The young woman wonders if she was beaten up before death. She wonders if it might have been domestic abuse. The doctor tells her to leave it to the doctors to figure out the cause of her death. The next morning, the doctor says, they'll find out what killed her. They'll also find out if the eight cats were poisoned too. They don't find any rat poison in the body, so they're going to investigate her death first. The police officer says that the prime time for finding a murder is 72 hours after the death, but now that it's been 10 days, they can't wait to get back to the crime scene and investigate the case. The captain will have to send some officers back to investigate the scene to see if there's anything they can find in the dirt.
