About This Chapter
The cat house that the narrator built is just across the street. The smell of burnt flesh makes the narrator's cats freak out. He tells the captain to send someone to find out what happened. The captain tells him that the woman who burned the cats must have killed them. The narrator is sure that it's the woman's son, who has been trying to burn down the house for a while. He's even brought the cops, and he's not a fan of old women. He calls the woman a "b*tch" and tells her that he'll beat her up if she ever hits him again. The two start fighting again, and the captain tells them to stop it. He says that the fight is finally symmetrical. He asks the captain why they started fighting the first time they saw each other. He wants to know why the woman didn't want to keep the cats in her neighborhood. The woman doesn't have a heart, he says, and she should have killed all the cats. He swears to god that he will admit everything he did. He finds the black cat dead in a weird way, and then he finds the white cat. He loses all of his attention.
