About This Chapter
In this chapter, we learn that the footprints found at the crime scene belonged to two people: the man who called the police, and the other person who ran away. The footprints of the first person were much larger than those of the second person, and they were found right next to a corpse. The second person's footprint was a bit strange, as he had no footprints coming in from the woods. The man had been carrying a woman into the woods when they found the corpse, but instead of excitement, they found it. The captain tells us that people have been sweeping footprints like this for a long time, and that they're just animals with "primitive urges" . They don't know where to go with this case, but the captain reminds us that they haven't even started on the severed-finger case yet. He asks the captain if it looks like a "bagua diagram" , which is a fancy way of saying a dead body. He tells the captain to send the body to the police headquarters, where they'll examine it with the director poke while the other kids learn how to do the job.
