The chapter opens with a description of the public bath, which is supposed to last until 6 p.m. The narrator tells us that he's sure it's going to be empty now that the public baths have become a thing of the past. He's also worried that the bath will be empty because the narrator has been drinking so much. He asks if there's anything he can do to make the bath more pleasurable, like suck his pants or rub his inner thigh with his tongue. He says he'd like to do that, too, but he doesn't want to do it alone. He kisses his pants, which are a first for him, and then asks if he can rub his tongue with his lips. He also asks if she can do it with her tongue, and she says yes. They talk about how much they've been having sex, and how they're going to have sex again soon. He tells her that she needs to wake him up when she's having sex like that. She tells him that she feels lonely because they were together all the time. She says she wants to stay with him like they did before. She wants to protect him at home, but she also wants to be able to see his face when she comes home. She's not going to let her life get in the way of her love, she says. She promises that she'll help her husband pack and move in with them.
