The narrator tells us that he's never cried in his life. He's glad that his mom has come to visit her. He tells her to stop smoking and to shut up shop. He also tells her that he doesn't want her to have sex with him. He says that he has given up smoking and that's why he came to see her. The narrator says that she's worried about what to do now that she hasn't heard from her husband. She's also worried about how to get a new dentist. She says that her tooth is aching and that she went to see a dentist today. She tells the narrator that she was in love with him, but now she realizes that she can't be with him anymore. She promises to come see her again. She goes on to say that they used to be friends, but that now they're not. She asks the narrator when they agreed to get together, and the narrator says it was the first time they'd ever agreed to date. He asks if she wants to see him again, and she says yes. She then asks if he'll see her as a lover, and he says no. He promises to kiss her again after they get home.
