In this short scene, we are introduced to the three main characters of the novel. First, we meet the protagonist , who is a student at the university where the novel is set. He is introduced as the "best actor with scandal" , and we are told that he is the "top idol" . We are also told that the protagonist has won three awards in a row for his performance in the novel, and that he has been nominated for an Academy Award for the performance. The protagonist is very excited about the reunion that is to take place at the school, but he is worried that he will not be able to attend because of the absence of the protagonist's father, who has been absent from the school for the past four years. He also tells us that he applied for the position of teacher in the school but was unable to get it because of his father's absence.
