The narrator returns home and finds that Mr. Roberts is back at work. He's been staring at him for a while, and the doctor has told him that they can't continue to stare at each other like that. The narrator is shocked and says that he's not sure what's going on. He asks if he still has the fear of cats, and he says he hasn't mentioned it to him since he got the memory loss. He tells the narrator to take his time, because his memories are coming back to him
