Now that he has the evidence against Cyril, the boss wants to send her a copy of the incriminating letter. He tells her not to worry about him or her father, but to concentrate on her work. He also tells her to knock on the door of the apartment where she is staying to find someone there to accompany her to the police station. He asks her to sit down and have a drink with him. She tells him that she can't remember how she came to be in the position she is in. She feels humiliated by Cyril's part in the whole thing.
