This chapter opens with a flashback to the previous chapter, in which Zong complains to Lu zhen that he has lost control over his assistant, who is constantly following him around. Zong is angry that his assistant has lost self-control and that it is very difficult for him to be a servant. He is also angry that Zong continues to treat him as if he is still his superior. When the flashback is interrupted by the sound of a gunshot, Zong yells at the assistant, calling him a "crybaby" and his family "crybabies."
